Day 2: Multiadventure, trekking and hot springs in La Fortuna

Morning: Multiadventure (5 hours)

That included horse riding, 2 zip lines and rappel besides an 80 meter waterfall. There's a lot of agencies to choose from, we did it with Arenal Mundo Aventura.

Tip: Try to book your multiadventure early; we booked for 10:30 (lazy us!) and run out of time to do anything in the afternoon (sun sets in Costa Rica at 6:00 pm)

The zip line experience was absolutely awesome. It feels really secure and is absolutely a MUST.

Eimear and I found the horse riding less pleasing than Alberto and Susan. The path was all covered in mud but it was good fun (not as much good fun for the horses, I guess). Riding a horse is like riding on a motorcycle with square wheels and no seat that has a mind of its own and does whatever it wants, including stoping to have a little grass snack, peeing or.. well, you know.

Alberto took this very nice pic of Susan rappeling

As said, the zip line was a really good experience, even for those afraid of heights. The lines are hung from one mountain to another, covering a distance around 300 meters (there are longer ones) at a maximum height of 100 meters.

I wish I had one of those to get to work. Tarzan was such a looser.

I didn't do the rappel thing, but I repent now ("The follies which a man regrets most, in his life, are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity.", Helen Rowland).

Afternoon: Trekking up to Volcan Arenal

This is just a recommendation: we didn't do it because we ran out of time (see squared tip box above). We just had some beers from the supermarket.

Night: Relax at the Tabacón Hot Springs

We visited the Tabacón Hot Springs (just took the free shuttle bus off the main street in La Fortuna) and had dinner there (without dinner before 7 pm: $29; without dinner after 7 pm: $19; with dinner after 7 pm: $31). Really nice, soothing experience after the adrenaline rush in the morning.

We went back with the latest bus (22:15) to bed.
